Babysitting services can usually be arranged in advance by your villa staff, but please be sure to give as much notice as possible.

One attraction that will appeal to kids of all ages is the new Yellow Submarine. This hightech mini-submarine tour takes you deep below the surface of Banderas Bay to explore the fascinating underwater world. The vessels dive to about 60 feet and the ride takes about 45 minutes. Also geared toward families is a new waterpark located in the Valley of Banderas appropiately called "Splash". The waterpark features nine waterslides, including the tallest one in Mexico. A children's area with smaller slides and water games, as well as a dolphin and sea lion show, will provide hours of family fun. The Dolphin Adventure and Dolphin Encounter are popular with children 10 and older. The Adventure - which enables visitors to swim with the dolphins in a clear lagoon - costs $130 and advanced reservations are required. Whether on the beach or in the Sierra Madre foothills, Horseback Riding is a longtime favorite for families visiting Vallarta. Horses are available for all level riders, with morning or sunset trail rides as options. The suggested minimum age for children is 9 years, unless riding with an experienced parent. Natural adventures give ways for kids to witness the thrill of nature while learning more about our planet and its inhabitants. Whale Watching Tours (December through April) are ideal for children of all ages who enjoy seeing the "baby" whales learning how to jump out of the water! The African Queen, a replica of the steamboat that took Katherine Hepburn and Humphrey Bogart down the Congo, makes a fun day outing for families. Guided Bike Rides. Children 12 and older can enjoy guided bike tours along beachfront paths or up gentle mountain trails. www.bikemex.com. Hiking is a great way to explore the natural beauty surrounding Vallarta - and a variety of paths and guided tours make this an appropiate activity for every age. Sightings of tropical birds plus a wide variety of plants make this an enriching experience for all ages.

Each Saturday morning on the Rio Cuale Island, art workshops and family-friendly festivities take place amidst the beautiful tropical gardens. Sponsored by the city of Puerto Vallarta, it's a great way to sample the art and culture of México. Fun for all ages!
